About newsletterapi
In short
newsletterapi is an independent team building a read-only API and MCP server for Substack writers, so your posts, archive and stats can work with your own website, backups and AI agents.
Why are we building this?
Writers keep asking for the same things: let my AI assistant read my archive, back up my posts somewhere I control, and show my posts on my own website. The usual answers are scripts that log in with your cookie or scrape pages, which can break and can put your account at odds with the platform's terms.
We think there is a cleaner way: start from what is already yours, your public feed and your own export, and turn it into a proper API and an MCP server for your AI agent. See the APIs or read our guides.
What are our principles?
- Read-only
- We read your posts and stats. We never publish, edit, send Notes or change anything on your account.
- No passwords
- We never ask for your Substack password or session cookie, and nothing logs in as you.
- No scraping
- We use your public RSS feed and the export you download yourself, not bots crawling Substack.
- Your data is yours
- You can export what we hold, and we delete it when you ask. We do not sell it.
- Independent
- We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Substack, Inc. We say "for Substack" only to describe what we work with.
How do I contact you?
Email hello@newsletterapi.io. We read everything, especially notes about what you would build with your Substack as an API.
